    Nieuwe single: Sam Fender – ‘Hypersonic Missiles’

    Sam Fender, het is een naam die we al vaker vernoemden. De 22-jarige Brit is volgens ons één van de meest veelbelovende artiesten van het moment. De man die de stem van zijn generatie wilt zijn bracht zopas zijn nieuwe single ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ uit.

    Afgelopen jaar werd de man genomineerd voor BBC Sound of 2018, samen met Sigrid, Lewis Capaldi en Khalid. Dit jaar werd Fender zelfs bekroond met de Brits Critics Choice Award. Eind november bracht de man zijn langverwachte debuut EP ‘Dead Boys’ uit. In de aanloop naar de release van zijn debuut langspeler op 9 augustus brengt Fender gelijknamige titeltrack ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ uit.

    Hypersonic Missiles

    Met zijn sociaal-, en politiek-geëngageerde teksten en steengoede muziek wilt hij zijn boodschap aan de wereld verkondigen. Dat doet Fender ook op deze ‘Hypersonic Missiles’. De track verwijzend naar de hypersonische raketten die Rusland heeft. Sam Fender noemt de song zelf een “onorthodox liefdesnummer”, zo zegt hij: “It’s main focus is on the world around the narrator, who is a complete tin foil hatter. They are convinced the world is on its last legs; they know that it is rife with injustice but feel completely helpless and lacking the necessary intelligence to change it while remaining hopelessly addicted to the fruits of consumerism.”

    Toch heeft de song ook een boodschap van hoop: “Amongst all the chaos is love and celebration, there is this glimmer of hope that runs through the song, a little notion that no matter what happens, these two people are gonna have a fucking good time regardless of the tyrants that run their world, and regardless of the imminent doom from these ‘Hypersonic Missiles’.”
